Interesting piece. Actually pretty sure Julian did start wikileaks though. He was the computer start up technologist from Australia in that first description. Also he sent me email asking me to help publicise it in 2006 the week it launched.
There is a technical case to be made for this, and he was certainly involved. The group predated him; his contribution helped organise it to go from Usenet to the 'wiki' format.
The media reports him as a lone crusader, however. This is not only inaccurate, but I feel does a real disservice to the other paid members, not to mention the 800+ unpaid volunteers without whom, etc.
