poor Meglet
Aug. 14th, 2009 07:27 pmMeglet bumped her head at After School Care today. We thought it was a fairly small cut - at least, that's what they told us, and I duly signed off the incident report. She had a hell of an egg on her forehead, but no sign of a concussion, thank goodness.
While she was having dinner, though, she went to brush her hair out of her eyes. That's when it became apparent that her hair had stuck to the real wound, which was a nasty deep gouge, and by moving it she'd ripped off the clot that had formed.
Cue wailing, gushing blood, parents running around grabbing paper towels, facecloths and tranquillisers. (The latter were for us, not Meglet, of course.)
Eventually we got the bleeding to stop enough for Wuff to pinch the wound closed with surgical tape. Poor Meglet, who by this stage was a sniffling ball of anxious tears, laid on the floor under a blanket to keep her head still for a bit longer.
We've just put her to bed. She's in a sorry state. It's awful how something like that can reduce our ordinarily tough little girl to such misery.
Hopefully, she'll have a good rest, and be much happier in the morning. If not, we may have to apply chocolate.
