this does not bode well for the future

(The scene: Meglet and Lilygirl getting ready for Auskick with Wuff. The conversation is overheard.)

Wuff: When we get home, I'd like you girls to pick up the clothes and books on the floor in your room, and you can get a dollar each.

Lilygirl: Okay.

Meglet: I don't want to.

Wuff: Well, you don't have to, but if Lilygirl does it all, she can have two dollars, since she's done two lots of work.

Meglet: Well, it's not worth it. It's too much work for a dollar. We should get more.

The problem with commerce, right? Poor incentive. Thanks for the reminder that we need to have value in the thing itself. Tough to sell the value of a tidy room to a child that young... Thinking cap on. Will let you know if I come up with anything.
